Gim Context, a knitwear house born in Harajuku in 1965, translates the vintage hiking backpack into its favourite language: a ribbed knit in a bold green, both supple and dense. The two camel diamond patches, a nod to the ice-axe loops of mountaineering packs, are knitted too, as is the reinforced sand-coloured base. A front pocket, a black webbing handle and knitted straps keep it truly functional without taking anything away from its object-like charm. A tongue-in-cheek accessory that livens up a grey coat or an all-navy look with plenty of humour.
