This collection brings together the different facets of Rei Kawakubo's universe. From the main Comme des Garçons line to the dark energy of BLACK , by way of the timeless essentials of Comme des Garçons Comme des Garçons , everything converges towards a single vision: deconstructing to better reinvent.

Here, beauty is born from imperfection. The house's signature codes are all present: asymmetrical cuts, obsessive polka dots, offbeat volumes, and crinkled polyester. A radical, intellectual, and uncompromising wardrobe for those who see clothing as an act of freedom.

About this selection

Rei Kawakubo is one of the few designers in the history of fashion whose influence transcends clothing to reach the realm of thought and philosophy. Since founding Comme des Garçons in Tokyo in 1969, the Japanese designer has consistently questioned the very foundations of what fashion is supposed to do and mean. Her 1981 Parisian show, presented as a collection of black, asymmetrical, and deliberately unfinished garments, caused an aesthetic shock whose ripple effects continue to cross the industry more than forty years later. The Parisian press at the time spoke of "Hiroshima chic," failing to understand that they were witnessing the birth of a new sartorial language whose codes they would eventually adopt.

The Kawakubo universe, as we present it at Actuel B, brings together several expressions of this singular vision. The main Comme des Garçons line pushes the boundaries of deconstruction and volume each season in directions no other designer would dare to explore. Comme des Garçons Comme des Garçons distills the essence of the house into more wearable propositions, yet always imbued with the same creative intelligence, the obsessive polka dots, and the precise cuts that have become instantly recognizable signatures. BLACK explores the darkest and most radical territories of Kawakubo's aesthetic, with crinkled polyester pieces and shifted volumes that make clothing an act of resistance as much as an object of beauty. Asymmetrical cuts, unexpected materials, and constructions that seem to defy the laws of gravity and conventional common sense are all manifestations of total creative freedom, that of a woman who never sought to please but always to question.
