It was in 1936 that Auguste Michel set up his hat shop in Paris. Almost 40 years later, while milliners and hat shops are closing one after the other, he entrusts the house to a couple of entrepreneurs and designers who then founded Maison Michel. Together they bring the workshop to renowned houses, privileged partners of haute couture.

In 1997, Chanel Métiers d'art, sensitive to the renowned expertise of the house, acquired it. Under the impetus of Laeticia Crahay, Maison Michel inaugurates its eponymous distribution line, while remaining the official supplier of the major luxury brands.

Since 2015, the artistic direction of the house has been in the hands of Priscilla Royer, for ever growing success.
