Created in 1919 by the couturier Cristobal Balenciaga and established in Paris since 1937, the Balenciaga house has become an absolute reference thanks to a visionary style and revolutionary creations.Â
In 1997, Nicolas Ghesquière was appointed artistic director of the house. It is inspired by Cristobal's heritage by adding a contemporary approach: a new Balenciaga generation is launched. The young New Yorker Alexander Wang takes over in 2012 and breathes a dynamic sportswear into the house. Demna Gvasalia, a German designer known for her work at the head of the Clothing collective will succeed her from the fall-winter 2016 collection.Â
